Is it possible to make up missed lessons?
We will provide a home study make-up lesson, which involves instructional materials your child will access online. As a result, your child will learn all the skills, receive all of the practice, and realize the full benefit of the program. If you wish, your son or daughter may also make-up the missed lesson in another nearby class. What is the enrollment deadline?
Enrollments are taken until the start date of class, or until the class is fully enrolled, whichever comes first.

What is the Institute of Reading Development?
The Institute of Reading Development has been a leader in reading development instruction since 1971. What happens in class?
Each lesson integrates advanced decoding skill instruction with fluency training, independent reading and comprehension-building discussions in classic children’s literature. The teacher will individually assess your child and provide you with guidance for selecting great books for the next few years. Your son or daughter will come out of the program with stronger skills, increased confidence and greater enthusiasm for reading.

Is there any homework in this program?
Students reinforce what they have learned in class during four sessions of home practice. This practice consists of reading classic children’s literature, working with a comprehension-building DVD, and completing short assignments in the long-word decoding workbook. The practice is well structured and enjoyable, with easy-to-follow instructions.

What is the class size?
The average class size is sixteen students, and the maximum class size is twenty-two students. The class size allows for your child to receive personal attention from the teacher, while also participating in lively group discussions.

The materials, format, and instruction meet the needs of a wide range of students. The teacher provides individualized support and guidance based on each student’s skill level and needs. The program gives students the tools they need as well as the opportunity to practice these skills under the teacher’s guidance, so every student makes substantial progress.
